Is Your Home Winter Ready?

Autumn always seems to fly by in the blink of an eye and before you can say “Jack Frost”, our homes have been hit by the first snowstorm. Weather in Missouri is known for being unpredictable and the winter season is no exception. As a new homebuilder in the St. Charles and St. Louis areas, we have been tipping off homeowners on ways to prepare for winter now…before it’s too late.
Get your heating system inspected. Your furnace has a lot of responsibility in the winter months. Get get it inspected in the autumn to ensure it’s properly prepared to fight the bitter cold.
Have your pipes checked. Wintertime is costly enough being that it’s a season filled with holidays and special occasions. The last thing you want to do is pay for pipe repairs. Pipe inspection is a good precaution to avoid such disasters.
Get your emergency kit together. If you’ve never before experienced a Missouri winter, you may be in for a surprise; it’s not a rare occurrence that commuting anywhere outside of your home is virtually impossible. Be proactive and gather essential items like bottled water, canned food, batteries and flashlights …just in case you are stuck in your home for an extended period.
Gather your winter gear. Fighting “Mother Nature” can be an ongoing battle. Having ice melt, shovels and perhaps even a snow blower can make things easier on you. Just be prepared!
Winter will be here before you know it, so make sure you take these precautionary tips to protect your custom home. For more home tips and ideas, stay tuned to the Fischer and Frichtel Custom Home Center & Community Blog.
