Get Those Winter Wonderland Pics Done Right

We are in the heart of the holiday season, which means one thing: lights—lots and lots of lights. The Fischer and Frichtel communities across the greater St. Louis area are decked out in full holiday light displays. It’s been a favorite pastime for many of us to drive through beautifully decorated neighborhoods in the holidays and take photos of all the amazing light displays. But have you ever tried to take a photo of a gorgeously lit home, just to be disappointed later when you see that the photo is blurry and distorted? We’ve been there, too.
Follow these two simple tips to ensure your photos of holiday lights turn out this year.
Ditch the flash. If you’ve even taken a photo of a light, only to have it show up as a blurry orb in your photo, then you understand why turning your camera flash off is a good idea. The best shot you have at shooting clear photos of holiday lights is to turn your flash off.
Take steps to stay steady. In a perfect world, we would all have tripods with us anytime we wanted to take photos, but the likelihood of that is slim. If you find yourself out and about without your tripod, try stabilizing your camera on a solid surface, such as the hood of your car, for more clear photos.
We encourage you to stroll through some of our gorgeous communities, such as Sunset Hills: Grandview, Deer Hollow, Fenton: Shadow Creek or Chesterfield: Wild Horse Canyon, to see some of our homeowners great light displays.
