Where Can I Recycle My Christmas Tree?
Posted by Elizabeth on December 30, 2011
Sadly, the holidays have passed and it’s time to take down those decorations. What are you planning on doing with that Christmas tree? Simply throwing the tree away is an option, but did you know St. Louis offers free Christmas tree recycling?
Between now and January 13th, the city of St. Louis is offering free Christmas tree recycling at three city parks! According to local station KMOV-TV in St.louis, you can drop off your tree in one of three locations in the metro area: Forest Park (the lower Muny parking lot); O’Fallon Park in north St. Louis (the picnic grounds, plot number 4); and in south St. Louis (Carondelet Park, near the recycling containers).
Why should you recycle your Christmas tree?
Believe it or not, Christmas trees can be recycled into usable items. Recycling your tree helps to save valuable landfill space and can save money on your trash bill. Recycled trees are often ground into mulch, which can help to conserve water in landscaping, too.
Remember to remove all tinsel and ornaments from your tree before you drop it off to be recycled. This program is for Christmas trees only. Please, no household, construction or yard waste is to be left at Christmas tree drop-off sites.
